On April 30, 2014, astronauts strapped a live streaming HD camera to the outside of the International Space Station so that us earthbound dreamers could see a live view of our own planet. There was a lot of buzz surrounding this live feed from space. A friend and I felt so inspired by this view that we wanted to create a small web experience to really showcase this amazing view from space. With the use of multiple data streams and the live video feed itself, we created what we called "Low Orbit". Superimposed on top of the live feed from space was it's current GPS location, groud speed, altitude and the current ground location it was flying over. We were also able to indicate the number of astronauts currently on board. The project lives on as a tribute to the incredible human achievement that is the ISS.
